Bowling

For our 2nd day of summer vacation I took the kids bowling. There is a place here that offers one free game every day of the summer if you go to school in the area.
The old guy gave me a hard time (in a nice kidding way) when he found out I have a child in every school here. He said I was too young. I told him he was my new favorite person.

They loved it. The best part is that Chris and I can bowl for $2.00 and that includes shoes. We went back the next day as a family and had a blast.

First Day of Summer

What better way to spend the first day of summer vacation than in the water?

He doesn't seem to care that it is summer. He will continue to do what he always does...follow me around, lay at my feet and be lazy. What a life!

Crickets

I went on a field trip this past week with E and look what I found in the gift shop.
I bought them for C thinking he would love to try them.
Chris was the first to try
C had his M&M ready
T looks happy and ready to try
totally gross

not so happy now
it took her a little longer to try

washing it down
it took her the longest to eat hers

This one put it right in her mouth
and then another one
and another
and another. Do you want to know how many she ate?
10! T-E-N! Seriously. 10 crickets!
C never did eat his. He said he felt sick and left to put his head under his pillow.

To market, To market, to buy a fat pig...

Blogger is putting the pictures in a weird order. We went to the zoo after we went to the market.
Some were more excited than the others, but we all had fun!
When we first moved here we went to the public market, but we had small kids and it wasn't fun. It had been a good 11 years since we had been so we decided to try it again. We loved it and have been back many time since. We did NOT buy that thing above!
We did buy flavored honey..YUM. I think E's was watermelon.
We also bought Kettle Corn
We did not buy more kids...5 is enough.
and apples.

Cookies

During spring break we decided to try making sugar cookies with Royal icing. It was so much fun and man were they good.

Aren't they so cute!

Here are our cookies. Vanilla and chocolate. (I didn't love the chocolate, but worth a try)
After the cookies had cooled for a good day, I made the icing which is pretty tricky. I put it in the bottles, which is even more tricky (almost impossible)
and let the kids do the decorating. Chris and I had done some the night before. It really is so much fun all the different things you can do with this icing.
Here are the finished cookies. I put mine on top. :) We took them to Easter dinner at the Pulleys. I didn't want them around the house any longer. I am running extra miles trying to get rid of all the ones I ate.
