Happy Birthday EJG

EJG had a great birthday. We went shopping for clothes and later that night we had a swimming party at the Pulleys. The Jensens were there and of course Rosemary! EJG had so much fun and loved all the attention. Check out the slide show to see all the fun we had.

For You

Ok I just read the comment "What about brother-in-laws?" So this is for you. We do love you. Thanks for bringing my favorite older sister out and for coming with her. I look forward to the day when we can go and eat INSIDE Dinosaur-BBQ and then go to Phillips and get the carrot cake for dessert. YUM

yummy recipes

I have two great recipes that I wanted to share with you. We have had so many Zucchini this year and have really enjoyed this bread recipe. Also the other one is a bean salad or salsa. We always serve it with chips. It is so easy and SO good. It is great to take to a picnic or to a big gathering.

Zucchini Bread
1 C. sugar (I use half white half brown)
2 eggs
1/2 C. oil (I use half applesauce)
1 C. grated zucchini
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 C. flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. baking powder
1 C. chocolate chips

Beat eggs, beat in sugar. Stir in oil, zucchini, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Add chocolate chips. Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Cool in pan for 10 minutes.

Shakespeare's Salad
1 can black beans
1 can black eyed peas
1 C. frozen corn
1-2 diced green peppers
1-2 diced red peppers
3 diced tomatoes
3-4 green onions
2 cloves minced garlic
3/4 C. diced cilantro (I hate this and never add it)
1 bottle Italian dressing ( I have used Newmans and something else and Newmans is the best)

drain beans, chop remaining ingredients, mix in dressing and serve with chips

YUMMY!

BigT

Big T loves to swim and always has. He is very good at it and it is so fun to watch him.

He decided that since Annabel could do a back dive so could he.

Here is his dive through a small child's ring. I think he is ready for the Olympics!

the perfect family photo?

Mom: "Hey come over here. I want to take a family picture."

E: "Wait look at all those seagulls"

"Everyone look at me please. This won't take long if you all hold still"

"Almost let's try again."

"Not yet! Hey look at me! Open your eyes."

"Are we done yet?"

"I have sand in my eyes"

"I have sand in my mouth."

mom: "please one more try!"

"I'm done. I want to go play in the water."

And they are off..

Only the youngest stays where I put her! Still not looking at me.

First Tooth

E lost her first tooth a few weeks ago. It was very traumatic. It was so loose and needed to come out, but this being her first tooth she was pretty scared. Dad was holding her and trying to get it out, which he did very easily. She was OK until she saw all the blood in the mirror. Then the crying really started. She is about ready to lose the other one any day now.

The fall

I happened to catch my youngest fall off the swing. Like a good mom I made sure she was ok and then before cleaning her up I took her picture.

To be a kid again

I loved to run and play in the sprinklers when I was a kid. It had to be 80 degrees outside before we could get in the water. I remember calling the weather hotline all the time to see how hot it was. My two youngest love the water and I had such a great time capturing all of it on film.

Sisters are Great!

I have the best sisters ever. The only thing wrong with them is they live 2000 miles away. They are so talented and crafty. I want to be like them. My older sister made dresses for my three girls and my little sister always paints me things, like this DARLING door hanger. Oh yeah she also made the bow in my daughters hair.

My Garden

I love my garden. I hate the rabbits that eat my garden. They ate one row of pea plants and a few of my bean plants. When my 2 year old sees a rabbit she says "I'm going to get that rabbit mom" A few of the plants survived and we love to eat fresh veggies. We have had zucchini soup, steamed zucchini, fried zucchini, and more zucchini bread then ever before. The corn is almost done and we have been eating peas, beans, peppers, and strawberries. My grandpa was a great gardener and I think of him every time I am out in the garden, maybe that is why I love it so much!
