A few weeks ago we decided last minute to go camping for the weekend. We packed up the car and took off. Chancho did great on the 3 hour drive. Only throwing up once we got there. (and not once on the way home) He was strapped in the whole time and slept. The kids also did great this being our first long drive without a DVD player in the car.
We had a cottage right on the lake which still had ice on it when we got there Friday night.
By Saturday morning it was gone and the water not too cold. The kids couldn't wait to pump up the boat and row over to the beach.
We sat on the beach for a few hours. We had the place to ourselves. Chris and I sat in chairs and talked and read books and watched the kids dig and play with the dog.
While the boys were getting the fire going the girls went fishing. One of their favorite things!
We also spent some time at the playground....again we had it to ourselves. It was so quite up there. Perfect for relaxing after two very stressful weeks at work for Chris.
We went in to town to visit my favorite place...the Hardware store. It is so fun to walk through. We had a blast and hope we can get up there again soon.
Oh man that makes me miss Rochester! I am so jealous that you spent the weekend in Old Forge. What a beautiful place and even better that you had the whole place to yourself.
When exactly was "a few weeks ago?" We are still in a winter mode here in Utah as it snowed yesterday, April 22nd. Great pictures of kids being able to play together as kids should be able to do from time to time with nothing but nature to entertain them, along with a dog. Where are pictures of mom and dad?
“This is our one and only chance at life—here and now. The longer we live, the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come, and then they are gone. I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not. I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and nonexistent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do. Instead, find joy in the journey—now.” - Thomas S. Monson

Looks like the perfect weekend. We need to get up to Old Forge this year. Can you believe that we've never made it to Old Forge?
I can't believe you let all 5 kids man the boat by themselves! Looks like you had a good time.
Glad you all had a some time away!
